If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or if you were baptized in the Catholic Church but never completed sacraments of initiation (i.e., Confirmation and Eucharist), please contact the pastor, Fr. Peter Fegan.
RCIA is an acronym for "Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults," and applies strictly to unbaptized persons who request Baptism and union with the Church. It does not apply to baptized non-Catholics who wish to enter full Communion, although in many parishes the two groups of people are fused and treated without distinction. Typically, adult converts to the Catholic Church are baptized, confirmed, and receive Eucharist at the Easter Vigil Mass, after months of catechesis and other forms of instruction in the faith. Baptized persons seeking full communion need not wait for Easter but can be received into the Church at the discretion of the local pastor.
A series of talks on the Catechism of the Catholic Church will begin at St. Thomas Church Tuesday, September 20. These are open to all, but will be especially helpful (and encouraged) for those seeking to enter the Church or complete their initiation. There will be other components of instruction, but these will give basic content of the Christian creed and moral life.
Too all those (baptized or unbaptized) who want to become Catholic, please contact the pastor.
