Mark your calendars for this coming Sunday

On May 19th, we will come together as a parish to remember Fr. Stephen Dominic Hayes’ ordination with a reception to which you are ALL invited.  The celebration will take place in the school gym.  May 20th is Fr. Hayes 25th Anniversary of Ordination, so  ALL of you are invited to a reception for him and his priesthood after the 10:30 AM Mass on May 19th. Oddly enough on May 21st Fr. Hayes turns the Big 60. So the party is not only for his 25th Anniversary but also for his 60th Birthday.  Please come out on the 19th of May and share our joy in celebrating Fr. Hayes 25 years of Priesthood.

      From Fr. Jordan

      Dear Parishioners,

We celebrated First Communion yesterday (Saturday) with our second graders and it was wonderful to see these young boys and girls receiving Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Sacrament for the first time. It is always a great day. Please recognize them and congratulate them when you see them at Mass.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers out there. Please accept these carnations as a thank you gift from the Dominican Fathers and the parish. You all deserve so much more than simply our thanks and prayers for giving life to each of us. Your influence and love cannot be overstated. I pray that your families give you the honor you are due today and throughout the year. Again Happy Mother’s Day, Enjoy!

My very belated collection of pictures from Easter Mass at St. Peter's.  For Masses like this, the Vatican organizes about 150 priests and deacons to help distribute Holy Communion.  You cannot concelebrate, but you do assist at the Mass.  To take part, you have to have a ticket and a letter of good standing.  I have the latter, and was able to get the former.  So, I went down to St. Peter's to distribute communion.  The instructions they give us are two:  We us the Latin phrase (Corpus Christi) rather than Italian or other vernacular, and communion may be given only on the tongue...More
